Bear Republic Wins At Great American Beer Festival: EOT Beer News
Bear Republic make some fine ales, for example their Red Racer 5 IPA. So it is always nice to see their hard work and fine beer recognized by their peers. The Great American Beer Festival is a yearly event in Denver, Colorado, that showcases US craft brewers and their products. At the 2014 festival that just ended, Bear Republic received a gold medal and a bronze medal.
The company won the gold medal in the Scottish-style beer category with their Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Scottish 80 Shilling (5.2% ABV). In addition, they won the bronze medal in the Bohemian-Style Pilsener category for their Double Aught (5.0% ABV). This was a big year for a Bear Republic, and they deserved it for their commitment to excellence in craft beer.
Entries in the Great American Beer Festival are judged by a panel of 222 expert judges from 10 different beer-culture countries. “The Great American Beer Festival is the premier beer competition for the American beer industry,” according to Nancy Johnson, Festival Director.
It is also interesting that many of this year’s winners were not only from California, but from Sonoma County, which is already known for producing some world-class wines. Now the area can be proud to also be the home of some of the world’s best beers.
