United Airlines is expanding its economy wine list with exciting new options
By Matt Sidney
Flying economy doesn’t have to mean compromising on quality, especially when it comes to enjoying a good glass of wine. United Airlines is setting a higher bar for in-flight beverages by expanding its economy cabin wine offerings, featuring delightful new options including exclusive rosé and brut bubbles.
United Airlines has officially unveiled its revamped wine selection for domestic economy passengers, introducing high-quality canned wines that promise to enhance your travel experience. Beginning October 1st, travelers can sip on selections from female-owned wineries, Just Enough Wines and Maker Wine, which brings a touch of sophistication to the skies.
The introduction of a rosé and a brut bubbles option, previously enjoyed by United Polaris business class customers, now graces the economy section. This move is in response to growing passenger demand for more varied and higher-quality wine options.

Aaron McMillan, United’s Managing Director of Hospitality Programs, emphasized the airline’s commitment to improving onboard amenities, stating, “We’re thrilled to now offer rosé and a higher quality brut bubbles option for our economy passengers, delivering a more premium experience onboard.”
Here’s what’s on the new wine menu in economy class:
• Just Enough Wines Rosé: This dry, crisp rosé from California’s Central Coast tantalizes with notes of watermelon and guava, balanced by a refreshing minerality.
• Maker Brut Bubbles: Exclusive to United, this sparkling white boasts citrus, white flowers, and stone fruit flavors, with a crisp finish. It’s crafted by Nicole Walsh, a celebrated winemaker in Santa Cruz.
• Just Enough Wines Cabernet Sauvignon: Enjoy a full-bodied red with vibrant cherries, vanilla, and sandalwood, perfect for relaxing on a long flight.
• Just Enough Wines Chardonnay: This medium-bodied white offers a bright profile with melon, honeysuckle, and toasted brioche, ideal for light meal pairings.
Each wine option is available in a 250-milliliter can, roughly equivalent to one and a half glasses of wine, priced at $12 on all mainline flights.
United is not only enhancing the in-flight experience but also focusing on sustainability. The shift from mini plastic bottles to aluminum cans significantly reduces the airline’s carbon footprint. Aluminum is more recyclable and aligns with United’s ongoing environmental commitments. This change will cut down the use of plastic bottles by an estimated 4.7 million annually.
Adding to the unique appeal of United’s wine selection is the inclusion of wines from female-owned businesses, spotlighting women’s contributions to the winemaking industry. Both Just Enough Wines and Maker Wine are known for their commitment to quality and sustainability, boasting numerous accolades and recognition in the wine community.
As United Airlines continues to refresh its food and beverage offerings, passengers can look forward to a more refined and enjoyable travel experience. Whether you’re savoring a glass of rosé or toasting with brut bubbles, United’s new economy wine selections are sure to add a dash of luxury to your next journey.
