Everyone loves a drink with a fun name, but when I first heard of a pornstar martini I was a little taken aback. I didn't realize there was such a drink. What could possibly be in it? And who decided to name it? Keep reading and all those questions will be answered. Learn how to make a fun mocktail version of it here!

While martini is in the name, there is not much about the pornstar martini that is anything like a traditional martini. However, it is served in a martini glass. The cocktail is made with vodka, vanilla, passionfruit, lime, and sparkling wine. While these ingredients won't go into the mocktail, they would make for an interesting cocktail.

The drink was created by bartender Douglas Ankrah at a London Townhouse bar in the early 2000s. Some say that he named it "pornstar martini" because he thought it was what a pornstar would order. Other stories suggest one night he was enchanted by a stripper's perfume. He then landed on the name of the drink.

This can be served a couple of ways. Either with the splash of champagne mixed into the drink or with it on the side. Douglas Ankrah intended the champagne to be served on the side. He said that the passionfruit should be dipped in sugar before being placed in the drink. The passionfruit would then be fished out of the glass with a spoon and eaten. The champagne would be sipped next, and the cocktail enjoyed at leisure as the last step.

Over time, the recipe has taken on several iterations. It could be because of taste, ease of making the drink, or for any reason under the sun. We're constantly changing all sorts of recipes to make cocktails into mocktails.

This recipe requires a lot of bartending equipment compared to the other mocktails we've explored in the series. A shaker and strainer are needed. However, you can make do with what you have lying around. It's also good to have a martini glass because the mocktail wouldn't look the same without it. Regardless it'll still taste the same, so drink it out of whatever you want. Now let's get to mocktail making!
